Improving its memory
Target Components, a Castleford based distributor that does much of its business with the independent channel, has announced it is now a distributor of OCZ products. This is in line with the company's strategy to develop as a specialist within the memory market.
"We are delighted to have OCZ on board, they are a premium brand and an exciting addition to our brand portfolio," said new sales director Adrian Macklin. "Target Components has a proven record of providing quality marketing support to customers and OCZ recognised the benefits of this to their brand."
HEXUS.channel recently spoke to Target MD Paul Cubbage to find out why Target appears to be growing when many companies are going in the opposite direction. "We're trotting along very nicely but we've still not done anything particularly clever," admitted Cubbage.
"We're pretty well thought of by our customers and when things get tighter you get more breakdowns in business relationships. Maybe we're getting the benefit of the doubt where some of our competitors aren't. We've never had the luxury of relying on one or two key customers for most of our business."
Asked where the business is coming from, Cubbage said: "Our customers are getting loads of business from upgrades and repairs and we're selling lots of components. Also, while the high street is suffering the internet is booming."
Maybe this recession is leading consumers and small businesses to seek the help of their local independent PC specialist as they look to make their IT equipment last longer rather than replace it.
