At the Storage Expo show a week ago, server and storage distributor and system builder Boston was making a big noise about its new partnership with iSCSI software outfit StorMagic.

The two companies exhibited together in fact, in order to showcase the Boston Igloo 24T-StorMagic IP SAN (storage area network). The target market for this product is: "...organisations looking to easily migrate data without downtime, eliminate the need for backups and protect their data."

Essentially it allows companies to store up to 24TB of data and access it via a single interface. Boston says both small and larger organisations are target markets for the Igloo 24T-StorMagic, but the asking price of £9,999 will introduce a degree of self-selection.

"Today end users want to focus their resources on core activities and managing storage simply is not one of them," said Manoj Nayee, MD at Boston. "Especially in the current economic climate you must be able to meet briefs and exceed expectations while remaining competitive and our joint solution with StorMagic ticks all the boxes."

Mike Stolz, VP of sales and marketing at StorMagic, added: "Boston is an innovative, technology-aware business with a deep understanding of the storage market and of our customers' requirements. I am confident that together we can enable end users to meet their data protection needs without hiring storage administrators or securing large budgets."

Here's the product in question on show at their joint stand at Storage Expo:
