Conclusion

...Scan's 3XS X99 Carbon Fluid Extreme SLI is a showcase of today's best components and an alluring prospect for hardcore users prepared to spend big.

The PC gaming arena is where top-tier manufacturers choose to showcase their premier technology. In the past few months we've seen Intel unleash its first deca-core consumer CPU, the Core i7-6950X, and more recently Nvidia has flexed its graphics muscle with the introduction of the latest-generation Titan X GPU.

Such premium parts are wish-list material for most gamers, yet system integrators are understandably eager to present turnkey rigs that provide deep-pocketed enthusiasts with best-in-class hardware, liquid cooling, factory overclocks and the peace of mind that comes with a manufacturer warranty.

At Ā£6,500, Scan's 3XS X99 Carbon Fluid Extreme SLI is a showcase of today's best components and an alluring prospect for hardcore users prepared to spend big. There's a lot to like and performance, in most benchmarks, is in a league of its own. The only snag, which we should add is outside of Scan's remit, is that multi-GPU scaling continues to be hit or miss, and the lack of support in some DX12 titles serves as a timely reminder that hardware can count for little if the software isn't playing ball.

Bottom line: the Scan 3XS X99 Carbon Fluid Extreme SLI is without a doubt the fastest PC we've ever tested, and though SLI support can excite and frustrate in equal measure, this ultimately is a system primed and ready for lush 4K gaming.

Blows that Cyberpower thing that I didn't win out of the water - are you giving one of these away?

New case and an EVGA PSU and it would be perfect.

Actually, the RM850i is quite a high quality power supply. It makes it into tier 1 of the Tomshardware
PSU tier list.

I love the fact that this was listed as one of the cons. At the same time, it's obviously a very valid point.

This is the type of amount where depreciation will happen very rapidly.

A warranty from a reputable UK retailer holds extra weight

Yeah good luck with that one, I waited over a month for them to finally send me a replacement graphics card that was still under warranty and that had physically been sending sparks flying when the PC was powered on, they even found the same problems and accepted the card was faulty, still, more than a month before they finally relented and offered me another graphics card from a completely different maker.

Warranties are all well and good on paper and in theory but it's when you go to actually use them you find out they're not worth anything and you gotta fight tooth and nail to get replacements for faulty (even dangerous/fire hazard) hardware.

You better make sure before you lay out as much money on a PC like this that the warranty says, specifically in writing, that it covers all parts and will replace ALL parts with a quick turnaround of a couple of days for the FULL warranty period and NOT sending them off back to China etc., to be repaired, which takes months if they ever even bother at all to send anything back.

From what I've read of the warranty given here with this PC, only the first year matters, the other two years are worthless and will be a complete waste of your time. For the price they're charging, that's just not good enough.

Sorry but am still quite annoyed at the long winded, frustrating and lengthy RMA process I had to go through with Scan just to get a faulty graphics card replaced under warranty, I do not consider them reputable at all any more.

I didn't mean to say the Corsair was bad (although I must admit I've not been impressed with my last RM Corsair supply), but to me the EVGAs are preferable down to my experience of reliability and the 10 year warranty.
