Conclusion

... the £99 for the RM750 puts it in the sweetspot for folk looking to specify a new build.

Corsair is reinvigorating its PSU line-up with the introduction of a new series dubbed RM. Available in a wide range of capacities, from 450W to 1,000W, the fully-modular supplies are designed to offer solid performance with minimal noise output.

The reviewed RM750 ticks many of the right boxes. Cabling is good, performance is competitive with premium 80 PLUS-rated supplies, and the fan remains silent even when mainstream PCs are busy playing games.

Spending more money, and in some cases significantly more, brings all-digital power control, marginally tighter voltage/ripple regulation and a little more efficiency to the table. We'd happily trade those in for a lower street price, so the £99 for the RM750 puts it in the sweetspot for folk looking to specify a new build.

We like the RM750's focus on enabling quiet computing. If you're of the same opinion do put it on a shortlist for the next upgrade cycle. Recommended.

The Good

Very quiet under load
Fully-modular design
Good overall performance

The Bad

Very quiet = good.
But is it silent?

Any reason to choose this over a fanless Seasonic PSU?

Excellent. Now for the next challenge:

Do the RM series suffer from coil whine?

I'm sure Hexus would have mentioned coil whine if they'd encountered it. YMMV of course, as each setup is different.
