Conclusion
If you have the hardware to support it and play modern games that scale well, the Asus RoG Swift PG348Q is the best widescreen gaming monitor available...The Asus RoG Swift PG348Q is the company's interpretation of the finest gaming monitor in early 2016. The 3,440x1,440 resolution, G-Sync technology and 100Hz refresh rate combine to offer silky gaming visuals in a super-widescreen, curved form factor.
Equally strong in productivity and with styling to match its premium credentials, there's a lot to like here. One point of contention is the price, at £999, which puts it at almost twice the cost of non-G-Sync, lower refresh screens of the same dimensions. That premium is what affords you, the gamer, with the best experience, so it's a case of weighing up how much you need these two game-enhancing extras. Are they worth £400 or so? That decision is entirely up to you.
Yet comparing the PG348Q against lesser screens is missing the point somewhat. The real rival for the Asus is Acer's specification-matching Predator X34, priced at similar levels, but lacking the quality OSD and, one could argue, the styling on show here.
Our advice boils down to something rather simple. If you have the hardware to support it and play modern games that scale well, the Asus RoG Swift PG348Q is the best widescreen gaming monitor available, and as a bonus it's great for normal productivity work, too.
