Conclusion
...we come away with the feeling that the G1.Sniper represents a solid addition to Gigabyte's AMD-supporting fold.Gigabyte has taken the FM2+-compatible A88X chipset and built a board that extracts as much out of it as we're likely to see. It seems like an odd decision to design what at first glance appears to be a gamer-focussed motherboard for mainstream APUs, yet Gigabyte's asking price of Ā£75 for the G1.Sniper is competitive against regular A88Xs from the likes of Asus and ASRock.
But calling this a true Sniper is somewhat disingenuous by Gigabyte - it's a mainstream board that does most things well. We come away with the feeling that the G1.Sniper represents a solid addition to Gigabyte's AMD-supporting fold. It doesn't stand out in any particular way other than the attention paid to the pre-amplifier for the audio, so if you're in the market for a no-nonsense A88X chipset-based motherboard, it would be wrong not to at least consider this model.
