This is a graphics card that enthusiast gamers should have on their radar, yet the 780 Ti proposition isn't as formidable as it once was. The emergence of affordable 4K monitors has moved the goal posts, and while MSI's card does have the vigour to game at such lofty resolutions, it won't deliver the desired 60 frames per second without sacrificing quality settings.

The PC gaming market doesn't stand still, and while the latest games consoles are competing at a paltry 1080p, we're already lamenting the fact that we've yet to see a single-GPU solution that truly excels at ultra-high-res 4K gaming. MSI's GTX 780 Ti Gaming 3G comes close, and it has the beating of Radeon R9 290X, but we may have to wait for a next-generation derivative for perfectly-smooth, high-quality 4K gaming from a single-chip card.

No-mans land. The 290X has been out for nearly a year already, and the gtx 880 is due in September.

Didn't know a single card was even capable of 4k/30fps at the moment. Pleasantly surprised.

..only if they are heavily discounted, otherwise wait.

I for one was going to buy a 2nd 760 to run in Sli, because that would be about the limit for my 650w PSU, but with the lower TDP of the 8xx cards, I'm now waiting until October to buy a 4GB 870 and will buy a second in November.
