Conclusion

...amazingly quiet at all times, MSI's custom cooler is easily among the best in the business...

RTX 3070 Ti represents the full might of Nvidia's 8nm GA104 die. Unlocking a full 6,144 shaders and employing faster GDDR6X memory, the new GPU looks to be a meaningful addition over and above the existing RTX 3070.

That on-paper promise, however, doesn't translate to a significant uplift in game performance, where modest gains are availed through an undesirable hike in power consumption. Such characteristics put the RTX 3070 Ti in an awkward middle ground; regular RTX 3070 is less thirsty, more affordable and almost as quick, while RTX 3080 remains a fundamentally superior class of GPU.

Ongoing stock shortages put another wrinkle into the mix - we feel the frustration as much as you - but our time with the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Suprim X has revealed one important truth in that partner cards are beginning to step out from the shadow of Nvidia's Founders Edition. Built like a tank and amazingly quiet at all times, MSI's custom cooler is easily among the best in the business and an excellent choice for those gamers who prefer to keep noise levels down to a minimum.

Bottom line: when you'll be able to buy a GPU upgrade at the advertised MSRP is anyone's guess, but when that time comes, an MSI Suprim X model ought to be high on the list of potential candidates.

Underclock the RAM to stock 3070 speeds and see how it compares, the 3070Ti seems like an even bigger waste of time than the 3080Ti vs the 3080…
Same performance as a stock 3070 more or less but higher power consumption. No thanks!!
It is getting to the point where I am not even interested in video card reviews, because you can't actually buy them. I get that this is a hardware review site and you need to review these cards, but it all seems kind of pointless until enough GPUs can be produced to where scalping isn't profitable.
CAT-THE-FIFTH

This is getting really tired now.
