With a ticket in excess of £150, the RC1100 is on the pricy side but does look the part. And not only does the colour scheme work well, it's clear that the quality control has been ramped up.

There's also epic storage potential - up to 8TiB if you install another 4-in-3 module, with enough space left over for a couple of optical drives.

Tied with the pre-installed fans and the cooling potential - including liquid cooling - it's an out-of-the-box solution that offers a great deal of scope to the ambitious user. Ideally, though, it would be one who's not too fussed about noise. By modern standards and the standards set by the original COSMOS, this newcomer is far from quiet.

So would we buy or recommend it?

Yes. If, that is, some £30 or so were to be shed from the VAT-inclusive price - which we think is necessary if Cooler Master's latest offering is to hit the market on its feet and keep on running.

Looking at HEXUS' exclusive price history tracker of products offered sale by SCAN, we can see that the COSMOS RC1000 has dropped in price over £45 (~ 35%) since it was first introduced; so you can see why we think that UK retailers like SCAN will work with Cooler Master and that the price of the COSMOS S will likely be following suit.

Even though it does have a few features we'd like to see enhanced - for example the HDD drive arrangment and perhaps more attention to noise levels - and the price (at which Cooler Master says it will initially be sold for) is somewhat higher than we think the market will allow, the Cooler Master COSMOS S is, in our eyes, a well built, very attactive-looking case that extends upon the thermal control performance of the original Cosmos and offers a good solution to gamers and some power users.
