Our June review of Corsair's HX850W power supply left us suitably impressed, but a number of HEXUS.community members voiced their concerns in regards to pricing. Singh400 seemed to sum up the collective opinion with just a few words; "dayum that's alot of doh".
Fortunately, the folks at Corsair seem to have heard and have today launched the Professional Series HX650W modular power supply.
The 650W unit, pictured above, is aimed at those wanting an entry-level HX-series power supply with low-profile modular cabling, low noise levels, ultra-high efficiency and Corsair's commitment to quality - all with a lower price tag of around £90*.
Available today, it fits in between Corsair's existing modular offerings - the HX420, HX520, HX620, HX750, HX850 and HX1000.
The HX650W is 80 Plus Bronze certified and users will be treated to a single +12V rail delivering up to 52A. Corsair backs the power supply with a solid seven-year warranty and lists its key features as follows:
- Guaranteed to sustain its full rated wattage at an ambient temperature of 50°C
- Up to 85% energy-efficiency under real-world load conditions
- Single +12V rail design providing up to 52A
- Multi-GPU ready
- Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) with PF value of 0.99
- Supports ATX12V 2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 standards. Backwards compatible with ATX12V 2.01
- Auto switching circuitry for universal AC input from 90-264V
- Over Current/Voltage/Power Protection, Under Voltage Protection and Short Circuit Protection provide complete component safety
