Synology has launched its 2-bay DiskStation DS212 and DS212+ NAS servers, which are said to deliver read/write speeds exceeding 109MB/s and 54MB/s respectively, under a RAID 1 configuration.

The DS212, pictured above, is positioned as delivering an affordable price-tag, whilst appealing to home and business workgroups. It is powered by a 1.6GHz CPU, married-up with 256MB DDR3 RAM. Meanwhile, its DS212+ sibling, pictured below, is targeted towards SMB users. It is powered by a 2GHz CPU, together with 512MB DDR3 RAM.

Both flavours include USB 3.0 connectivity, an SD Card slot and run Synology's DiskStation Manager 3.2. Operating noise levels are said to be below 20dB and energy efficiency is also touted. It's claimed that the units consume no more than 19W during operation, and under 8W when hibernating.

As you'd expect, both support 2.5in and 3.5in storage drives, with capacities up to 6TB (2 x 3TB).
