AMD's A690G chipset is the power source fuelling Foxconn's latest range of three motherboards, all featuring onboard DirectX 9.0 calibre graphics support, courtesy of the ATI Radeon X1250 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

Designed as a foundation for Socket AM2 for AMD® Athlon 64FX, Athlon 64x2, Athlon 64 and Sempron system processors, the new range supports up to 8GB of DDR2 533/667/800 system memory, and allows for system expansion via the one PCI-E x16, one PCIe x1 and two standard PCI slots present.

Tuning of system components is made possible through the inclusion of TigerOne™, it being Foxconn's monitoring and system control implementation which is both BIOS and Windows Operating System based.

The A690GM2MA-8EKRS2H model boasts two IEEE1394a ports over the A690GM2MA-8KRS2H, whilst sharing the same specification consisting of ten USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit LAN and 8 Channel High Definition onboard audio capabilities.

The A690GM2MA-RS2H, whilst still maintaining the ten USB 2.0 ports found on the higher end models, features cutbacks in the networking and audio department, with it offering 10/100 LAN and 6 Channel High Definition onboard audio capabilities. All models however, feature four S-ATA 2.0 connectors, support RAID levels 0,1,10 and JBOD, whilst being Vista Premium capable and designed on an mATX form factor.

anyone know if the K10 will run in this or not? I'm pondering a complete system replacement… my aging barton mobile XP system is loyal… but in need of a vast update.

C2D… well. potential. Cheap. cheerfull… but lacking.

AM2/3… interesting. go very cheap dual core for now. then up to quad with barcelona? Plus with the onboard x1250 i can sit and wait for the DX10 saga to play out and then plonk for a reasonable one.
Looks like a decent spec board but which fanless AM2 CPU would you put in it for it to fit into the Media Center roll…
if the mobo lets you underclock it, put anything you want in and wind it down……

We have more than enough power to play with in any AMD2 cpu, so a slow down and hence cool down would work I think
