A new X-black LCD screen, achieving 90% colour fidelity, is just one of
the new features gracing Sony's Vaio FZ range of laptops.
The Vaio VGN-FZ11Z,
pictured below, has a Blu-ray optical
drive, allowing for full viewing capabilities of Blu-ray disks,
together with HD hardware decoding and an HDMI output all
factored into this entertainment powerhouse, which finds
NVIDIA's GeForce 8400M GT mobile graphics processing unit (GPU) at the
helm.
The 15.4" display features 'BRAVIA' backlight technologies that are
responsible for the enablement of vivid colour reproduction, capturing
vivid hues of life, with remarkable precision, state Sony.
Intel Core 2 Duo system
processing technology, in the form of the T7300 processor, is teamed up
with 2GB DDR2 RAM and storage coming courtesy of a 200GB hard drive.
Sony have integrated a webcam into the bezel, tying this in with a
suite of AV buttons, allowing for convenient play control, whether
watching video content or listening to music.
The Blu-ray optical drive
already mentioned, also has full recording
functionality, allowing for up to 50GB of storage capacity per disk.
Perhaps more exciting however, is the possibilities included for
editing Full HD video and playing the results in 1080p Full HD, just
more of the functionality touted by Sony, who claim, that the FZ-series
has what it takes to become a personal HD video editing suite,
especially considering that the Blu-ray format is ideal for storing HD
video content.
Windows Vista Home Premium is the operating system of choice here,
whilst the system itself weighs 2.7KG. The chassis is
constructed of a magnesium alloy which, according to Sony, conceals
real strength behind good looks.
USB 2.0 connectivity and
Bluetooth support accompany wireless LAN functionality powered by an
Intel solution.
