Sony's newly-announced VAIO-X might be one of the sexier laptops on offer, but as HEXUS.community members have been quick to point out - it's mighty pricey at $1,299.
Fortunately, for those who can't justify such a premium for what's largely a design statement, there's the also-new VAIO CW series.
The VAIO CW, pictured below, isn't as sleek as the VAIO X - in fact, it's almost chunky in comparison and around three times heavier - but then, it's almost half the price and probably twice as powerful.
The system features a 14in "widescreen X-black LCD with LED backlight" and plenty of power at its heart provided by a choice of Intel processors - including a range-topping 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - DDR3 memory, and NVIDIA GeForce GT210M/GT230M graphics.
Described as a "colourful" range, the VAIO CW is available in blue, red, pink, white and gloss black finishes - and each sports a colour-graduated palm rest.
There's a multi-touch trackpad with support for gestures, and Sony reckons "typing is a pleasure on the responsive, perfectly-pitched keyboard, even if you’ve got long fingernails" - hear that girls?
HDMI output comes as standard, and those wanting a high-def movie experience on the go can opt for an optional Blu-ray drive. Pretty decent-looking system, we reckon, and the U.S. starting price of $799 isn't bad at all. The Sony VAIO CW will be available on October 22nd.
