Asus has launched a powerful new laptop aimed at professional content creators. The new Asus ProArt StudioBook Pro X (W730) combines to twin attractions of 9th gen Intel Xeon CPU and Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 GPU processing power with a 17-inch 1200p Pantone validated display, quad-SO-DIMM slots, up to 6TB of fast storage, and creative input possibilities via ScreenPad 2.0 technology.

As a professional-targeted laptop system Asus says the W730 has full ISV certification to "ensure users to enjoy optimal stability and performance with their preferred professional software applications". As well as being fit for demanding applications, the W730 is pretty tough and durable, having met the MIL-STD 810G military standard.

This is the first professional creator laptop from Asus to feature ScreenPad 2.0. HEXUS looked at an Asus laptop featuring ScreenPad 2.0 tech recently, in our review of the ZenBook 14 UX434F. Sadly on that machine, while the tech showed potential it still exhibited functional niggles in daily use among its shortcomings. Since our review was so recent, it won't have given Asus much time to iron out ScreenPad 2.0 wrinkles.

Another highlight of this laptop is the screen. It uses a 17-inch 1920 x 1200 pixels NanoEdge anti-glare design. The screen boasts 178° wide-view technology, 97 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut, Delta-E < 1.5 colour accuracy, and Pantone validation.

Asus's ProArt StudioBook Pro X (W730) is currently available from Asus direct for $4999.99, as well as from retail partners like Amazon and Newegg.
