EVGA has kicked off a new promotion, open to new and existing owners of its Nvidia GeForce GTX 1000 Series graphics cards. From now, "for a limited time", EVGA is giving away a free EVGA PowerLink to all registered EVGA GeForce GTX 1000 Series card owners. Those claiming the free PowerLink need only pay the shipping and handling fee, as determined by EVGA.

The EVGA PowerLink 600-PL-2816-LR is designed to both "dramatically improve cable management," and to "make your PC look even more awesome". This adaptor allows EVGA GeForce GTX 1000 Series card owners to reroute the power inputs for their graphics card for improved airflow, lower profile height, and a new cleaner look. It supports a variety of different PCI-E connections including adjustable spacing. Furthermore, the EVGA PowerLink has integrated solid state capacitors to provide power filtering.

Going by the above functionality rundown, the EVGA PowerLink is by no means an 'essential' but it is indeed a nice extra, especially for free. So how do you get it? First of all you need to be a registered EVGA User (free to do), and have at least one EVGA GTX 1080, 1070 or 1060 registered to your EVGA account. If you recently have bought a new EVGA GeForce GTX 1000 Series card and not registered it yet then go here to complete that process.

Once the above steps are complete you can go to EVGA's dedicated PowerLink promotion page and fill out the claim for your freebie. Please ensure you input the correct shipping address as that will be the delivery address and is also used for EVGA to calculate its shipping/handling fees. Next, you can claim up to four EVGA PowerLink devices depending upon how many new EVGA Nvidia Pascal-based graphics cards you have registered.

Please note that if you didn't buy your EVGA graphics cards direct from EVGA you must have a valid invoice to upload, so it's worth getting ready for that. The only way to get your free EVGA PowerLink is via EVGA's shipping and once that fee has been determined and paid the device will ship within 1 to 3 business days.

The first free EVGA PowerLink products will start shipping from 1st November, 2016. EVGA hasn't indicated how limited this promotion is, so get registered ASAP if you are interested. At the time of writing it looks like no one has yet been notified of their shipping/handling fees.

If only they had just put the power plugs on the end of the card in the first place…
If only you didn't need the power plugs at all…..

Just like the old days….
Always wondered why the power plugs were at the ‘highest’ point on a gpu rather than at a lower point when most people buying ‘high end’ cards normally like a neat and tidy case…

While this does the job it isn't half bulky for what is essentially an extension cord. Also not sure I like the fact you can ‘adjust’ the position of the socket by unscrewing stuff as to me that could cause issues later on - damage to power socket, sparking and other power supply issues…..

And why couldn't they just include this in the box so we don't have to pay postage…. which will likely be more than the item actually costs to manufacture

Welcome to bad planning.
and something else to fail!
