Even though they're not quite ready for prime time yet, some of AMD's upcoming ‘Zambezi' desktop CPUs have made an appearance at E3.

There are no performance teasers, but the above images apparently show an FX 8-core offering running on an ASUS Crosshair V Formula mainboard, with a Radeon 6900 series part powering an Eyefinity display setup.

An AMD OverDrive software screenshot, seen above, also gives some additional insight - including temperature and voltage information that is seemingly influenced by the fact that the software doesn't support the new CPUs just yet.

Interesting - every core runs at a different speed? I would've expected at best that it would have 4 clock domains, one for each module. If it does have the fine a degree of performance control it should be a pretty power frugal processor…

Not if it needs 1.4V even in a downclocked state. Hopefully that's just early gremlins..
The article does suggest that the vcore and temp readings are due to a lack of compatibility: although you've got to wonder why AMD would demonstrate their own processor, using their own software, and not make sure they have a properly compatible version available…?
Gotta get me one of those monitors

I love that desktop background, as well.

Only thing that saddens me is when widescreen users keep the taskbar on the bottom of the screen - especially when their screens are THIS wide.
