Is the current economic climate making it hard to justify spending your hard earned? Are the Chancellor's VAT reductions doing little to encourage your spending?
Well, it appears that Cooler Master feels your pain, and the high-end manufacturer will be slashing prices across its product range in an effort to "help out enthusiasts".
Cooler Master's price cuts, coupled with UK-wide VAT reductions, add up to make some useful savings. For example, the Taiwanese manufacturer's Silent Pro 500W power supply, previously priced at £71, will now retail at an expected £60. Further up the chain, the high-end UCP 1,100W used to fetch in the region of £230 - it'll now be priced at a far more modest £160.
It isn't just power supplies, either. Cooler Master's ATCS 840 chassis is expected to drop from around £220 to £188.
Mingkei Wu of Cooler Master UK said:
We have been monitoring the overall economy and decided to take bold action to stimulate consumer interest. Naturally, over the last 2 quarters, improvements in manufacturing efficiency would have led to a lower price for end users on many of our products. Unfortunately, the global economy caused a massive increase in the value of the dollar and the street price has not moved the way we originally expected.
To redress the balance, I have authorised significant price cuts. The price cuts offered to distribution will allow the channel to get their pricing down to the level we expected it to be at ‘naturally’ for this time of year.
We appreciate the offer as much as the next shopper, but is it just a gesture of good will? Maybe, maybe not. It could be that Cooler Master's products just aren't selling as well as they'd hoped, and price cuts are the only remedy.
Either way, there's some cheaper Cooler Master products heading to UK shoppers.
