PRESS RELEASE

Today, Microsoft unveiled the next phase in its vision to empower a new wave of creativity with updates to Windows 10 and Surface.

Microsoft expanded its Surface family of devices with Surface Studio, Surface Dial and Surface Book with Performance Base:

  • Surface Studio is a new class of device that transforms from a workstation into a powerful digital canvas, unlocking a more natural and immersive way to create on the thinnest display ever built.  Pre-order starts today in the U.S. via Microsoft Stores, MicrosoftStore.com and BestBuy.com. It will begin shipping in limited quantities this holiday with broader availability to follow in early 2017.
  • Surface Dial is a new peripheral designed for the creative process. It integrates with Windows 10 to work with Surface for a faster and more intuitive way to scroll, zoom and navigate. Pre-orders begin today in the U.S. through Microsoft Stores, MicrosoftStore.com, select Best Buy locations and at BestBuy.com, with availability following on November 10.
  • Surface Book with Performance Base is the latest addition to the Surface Book line, packing more than twice the graphics processing power as the original Surface Book models. And it brings up to 16 hours of battery life into the same sleek, versatile design people love. Pre-orders start today via Microsoft Stores, MicrosoftStore.com and select retailers in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the U.S. and will become available in those markets on November 10.

Microsoft also unveiled the Windows 10 Creators Update that will:

  • Enable people to create, share and experience in mixed reality as well as 3Dwith Paint 3D and the Remix3D.com community
  • Bring Beam system integration to Xbox One and Windows 10 for interactive broadcasting and viewing of gameplay on Xbox Live, and the ability to create their own tournaments and challenges as a fun way to compete against friends
  • Connect people faster to those they care about most with Windows MyPeople

Additionally, the Creators Update brings new 3D and inking capabilities to Office apps, including support for 3D in Word, Excel and PowerPoint over the next year as well as Ink Editor in Word, which lets you use your pen intuitively to make changes directly in Word. You’ll also be able to use a new built-in digital ruler to draw straight lines and align objects in Office apps.

Windows Insiders will be able to preview select new Windows 10 Creators Update features—including the new Paint 3D experience—ahead of rollout to the more than 400 million Windows 10 devices as a free upgrade in early 2017.
