Networking manufacturer DrayTek have launched a new high-speed dual-Ethernet load-balancing router/firewall - the Vigor 2925 series. With firewall performance of up to 300 Mb/s the product is ideally suited to super fast broadband from BT Infinity (FTTC), high speed cable broadband from Virgin Media and other higher speed Internet services.
The Vigor2925 series also includes many professional business features such as VLAN tagging, Gigabit Ethernet switching and built in wireless networking.
In addition the Vigor 2925 series provides two USB ports that may be used for 3G/4G support via a dongle All of the WAN (Internet) connectivity can be used simultaneously to increase your overall bandwidth (load balancing) or set to backup (failover) mode so that your secondary Internet connection methods kick-in when your primary one fails
VPN capacity is enhanced compared to previous models with 50 x VPN and 25 x SSL VPN tunnels available. These come as standard with no additional licencing costs per-user. This makes the product ideal as a VPN concentrator for connecting branches, home workers and employees travelling away from the office. SSL VPN is a client-less method of secure tunnelling suitable for use on shared, temporary or ‘web-café' computers where IPSec clients cannot be installed or where other protocols are blocked.
Security is always taken seriously with DrayTek routers and the built in firewall protects against attacks including DoS (Denial of Service) , IP based attacks and access by unauthorised remote systems. Businesses can ensure employees access appropriate web content using the Web Content Filter (WCF) features, including the optional GlobalView subscription where categories of sites can be restricted by user, by group or companywide.
