DrayTek launches the AP-800 standalone wireless access point ideal for adding wireless connectivity to an existing LAN or expanding the range of an existing wireless network.

A true business class product, the AP-800 provides efficient management of wireless traffic using the WiFi Multimedia standard (WMM). This optimises the available bandwidth for timing critical applications such as voice and video. Power over Ethernet (PoE) is built into the product as standard enabling the device to be powered and network connected via a single Ethernet cable.

In addition the AP-800 has a host of features ideal for the small business. As well as a built in 4 port Ethernet switch the AP-800 has an additional LAN port that can be used to connect to a second LAN enabling the device to be shared amongst two separate physical networks.

Conforming to 802.11 WLAN the device is backward compatible with both 802.11b and 802.11g. Multiple levels of wireless security are also available including WEP, WPA and WPA2 with the additional ability to restrict access from a specific device via MAC address. WPS wireless protected set up enables encryption keys to be set up securely and easily using a specific button on the side of the device.

The AP-800 can be set up as a standalone device, a repeater to increase the coverage of an existing wireless network, a bridge to connect two networks together or as a simple way of connecting a remote device to a network.

A USB port is available for connecting a printer for wireless connectivity and sharing amongst users.
