28 August, 2008 – Belkin today announced a whole range of new networking, laptop and mobile products, including a complete new look for several wireless routers, spanning the G, G+ MIMO, N and N+ models, which all now have a sleek, gloss black, upright design. The models all feature enhanced usability with simple identification labels on rear ports and new icons on the front panel to show network status. The new design also allows increased airflow to keep the routers cooler.
The N+ is an entirely new wireless router featuring a USB port to connect storage and back-up devices and give multiple computers easy shared access to documents, videos and photos etc, over a secure wireless network. It also has a ‘speedometer’ to show network download speeds and an automatic deactivation feature which saves energy when the router is not in use.
Other products launched include:

  • GoStudio, a handheld device which connects to an iPod and allows users to record and playback stereo content quickly and easily – ideal for uploading audio onto blogs and social networking sites or for using an iPod as a digital dictaphone
  • Powerline Networking Adapters use existing mains electrical wiring to provide reliable network coverage for hard-to-reach areas in the home. With transfer speeds of up to 200Mbps users can easily stream large amounts of web content to home entertainment systems and other computers
  • Desktop Internet Phone for Skype – with an easy-to-use interface and simple set-up, the new phone makes Skype calls more convenient to a wide range of people, without having to turn on your computer
  • New carrying cases and sleeves for the MacBook Air and ASUS Eee PC in a range of stylish, lightweight yet protective designs, including leather, neoprene and quilted
  • BreakFree Connectors which use magnetic breakaway connectors to protect musicians’ guitars and amplifiers from damage when cables are accidentally disconnected. Also lets users swap multiple guitars easily and quickly without having to shut-down or put amplifiers on standby
