Amsterdam, 1 October 2019 – According to the latest figures from the analyst Context, the monitor market in the wider European region has grown by 3.2% in the second quarter of 2019. Display specialist AOC and MMD (brand license partner of Philips monitors) together doubled this number, showed a 6.7% volume increase, and held their third position of the market share in Europe at 14.1%. MMD contributed to this growth by growing 10.8% year-on-year in volume.
In large screen sizes (68.6 cm - 27” and above), two brands together are in second position with 14% market share. While this market segment grew by 29.2%, both brands together grew almost double that amount, by 57.7%. MMD and AOC also noted a significant growth of their volumes individually, 53.3% for MMD and 64% for AOC. AOC and MMD together are in number one position in Russia, Benelux, Ukraine, Poland, Italy, Czech Republic and Slovakia. MMD alone is in the first position in the segment of 27” screen sizes and above in Benelux and Ukraine.
The overall market for monitors continues to grow, thanks to the appeal of high resolution (QHD and UHD), ultra-wide, curved and large sized monitors, as well as innovative technologies which contribute to greater productivity and ease of use. Another key factor is the gaming sector which is also continuously increasing.

AOC impresses with a broad and innovative portfolio of entry level and high-end gaming monitors. Additionally, AOC’s growing portfolio of professional displays for small and medium businesses and the public sector, is highly competitive and well received by the market.
MMD grew significantly, thanks to its unique innovative connectivity solutions, such as: the productivity-boosting and functional USB-C docking station; green solutions such “the greenest monitor in the world”; PowerSensor, which detects the absence of the user and cuts power consumption by 80% the pop-up webcam which can be tucked away for increased security; the “hybrid” USB-C and USB-A cable for connecting old and new devices to the monitor’s USB-C docking station; and the new gaming line dedicated to console gamers - Momentum.
In the UK and Ireland, the monitor market grew just slightly by 3.63% in Q2 2019 compared to Q2 2018, however, MMD’s volume grew by a substantial 47% in the same period. AOC's and MMD’s combined share make up 10.7% of the market and puts them in the third position.
