Press Release

First of new Core3 Series motherboards, offering greater reliability, usability and connectivity

Milton Keynes, UK, May 16th 2007 – Foxconn today announced the first motherboards based on the new Intel® 3 Series chipsets for mainstream and performance market segments.

Utilizing the innovative Intel® P35 chipset, the new P35A-S and P35A motherboards promise better all-round system performance with support for FSB speeds of up to 1333MHz, built-in future proofing for forthcoming 45nm processors, and support for today's latest generation processors - Core™2 Quad and Core™2 Duo.

The P35 chipset provides more performance capability with less power; chipset overspeed protection has been removed on all Foxconn P35 motherboards - enabling greater tuning capability, whilst power efficiency and thermal performance has been further improved compared to the P965 family, with continued Energy Star support.

Foxconn's implementation of the Intel® 3 Series chipsets is based on three central themes which are critical to today's mainstream and performance computing; reliability, usability and connectivity. FOXCONN Core3 Series motherboards offer numerous reliability, usability and connectivity features, which are designed to enhance and develop mainstream desktop computing:-

Reliability & durability built in

Foxconn's Core3 Series motherboards offer unprecedented reliability and operating stability, thanks to a range of design features and an engineering philosophy that puts reliability and operating stability at the centre of the development process. Foxconn's Sustainable Engineering means increased reliability with performance.

Foxconn's 100% SOLID Capacitor design further improves component reliability, by replacing electrolytic capacitors with solid versions; this removes the risk of capacitor failure damaging the PCB and surrounding components, whilst improving overall system performance and stability. Solid capacitors are much more durable than standard electrolytic versions, typically lasting around 6 times longer and withstanding higher operating temperatures.

Greater usability

The P35A and P35A-S motherboards are easy to install and use, thanks to features like EasyPin which provides colour-coded onboard header connections, and onboard on/off/reset buttons for testing on the workbench without connection to a chassis. BIOS and driver updates are simple thanks to BIOS and Windows based utilities, and overclocking is made accessible for novices who want to get more performance from their Core3 motherboard. FoxOne™ technology provides a highly reliable, robust and intuitive interface for monitoring and tuning system performance.

Enhanced connectivity; more connections, more possibilities

Imagine a motherboard that allows you to choose between ATI® and NVIDIA® graphics set-ups, provides the latest connectivity technologies like Intel® Matrix Storage and Rapid Recover Technology, whilst still providing legacy ATA connectors. Core3 Series motherboards provide more possibilities for your system configuration and wider upgrade paths.

I love when pc companies refer to ‘Foxconn terms as built-in future proofing’.

However, I like the idea of the ‘power on/off and system reset button functionality being available onboard’, this would be a boon to anyone, like myself, who builds pc, to check the mobo (and other bits, without installing it in the case beforehand.
