PRESS RELEASE

EEB workstation motherboard enables better productivity and upgrades through multiple GPUs, twin Intel® processors, and advanced server-grade add-ons

Taipei, Taiwan (March 12, 2012) - the ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS delivers a unique proposition in the market, offering the best of both mainstream and server boards on a standard-sized, 12" x 13" EEB form factor. It supports 4-way SLITM and quad CrossFireXTM with PCI Express 3.0 speeds, dual Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 processors, an 8-DIMM memory design, and the latest storage standards, including ASUS SSD Caching. This is the first ASUS dual-CPU motherboard that possesses both the features of a mainstream motherboard and a dedicated server board. The Z9PE-D8 WS creates a platform well-suited to the needs of professional workstation application users, including researchers in fluid dynamics, medical sciences, engineering, and financial modeling.

Enhanced parallel computing power with seven PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots

Clients enjoy the advantages of the new PCI Express 3.0 x16 expansion interface standard with 32GB/s bandwidth per direction, twice that of PCI Express 2.0. At the same time, the new slot design retains the physical dimensions of PCI Express 2.0 x16 to ensure complete backward compatibility. The seven slots enable maximized room for expansion and different graphics setups, with up to 4-way NVIDIA® GeForce® SLITM and quad AMD CrossFireXTM. As a professional motherboard, the availability of such large scale graphics processing power presents a highly desirable choice for clients who demand intense rendering capabilities. Also, it brings the benefits of extreme flexibility to GPU computing users alongside PCI Express 3.0 performance gains.

Standard EEB form factor supports advanced and complete I/O integration

Unlike other workstation motherboards currently on the market, the Z9PE-D8 WS packs an extensive feature set onto a regular EEB form factor. The new board therefore fits into any case with EEB-compatible mounting holes, while other workstation offerings demand larger, more expensive, and less convenient accommodations. Although standard in size, the Z9PE-D8 WS enables flexibility and performance well above the norm with dual Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 support (Sandy Bridge-E), and an 8-DIMM memory design. For storage, it ships with four USB 3.0 ports and six SATA 6Gb/s ports. Faster overall system performance can be attained via ASUS SSD Caching technology, which uses an installed SSD to expedite frequently-needed operations. The Z9PE-D8 WS further maintains the highest standards in multimedia, offering 7.1-channel DTS HD Master AudioTM output.

Cross-category usability and server-grade enhancement

The Z9PE-D8 WS merges the benefits of mainstream and server boards, the first offering from ASUS purpose-designed to do so. While unique workstation motherboard features are removed by other brands, ASUS aims to provide a true dual-use motherboard, integrating powerful features usually available only on server boards, including the multi-GPU and dual CPU architecture mentioned above. ASUS is also including dual server-certified Intel® Ethernet ports, out of band ASMB6-IVKM, and in band ASWM Enterprise (both previously exclusive to server models). The Z9PE-D8 WS is the first ASUS motherboard to present this kind of cross-category feature combination, bringing clients the best of several segments.

Unique after-sales service

For technical support and warranty requirements, ASUS offers the Z9PE-D8 WS with its new Advanced Replacement Service, which reduces RMA lead times and offers greater flexibility and convenience should clients need to return, repair, or replace products. The Z9PE-D8 WS also maintains the ASUS "24X24" pledge, which means guaranteed 24-month supply and 24-hour non-stop operation. Currently, the Advanced Replacement Service is only available in EU markets, though ASUS plans to expand it to other regions in due course.
