ASUS today released the new KCMA-D8 and KCMR-D12 server boards, based on AMD Socket C32, for 4/6-Core AMD Opteron™ 4100 series processors. A showcase of innovative design, these server boards feature the AMD SR5670/SP5100 chipset, dual-channel DDR3 memory, high power efficiency, ASUS’ unique PIKE SAS2 upgrade kit, high quality components and the ASUS ASMB4-iKVM module for remote management, making them the ideal foundation for versatile AMD Socket C32-based servers.

Support for the Latest AMD 4100 CPUs
The ASUS KCMA-D8 and KCMR-D12 are based on the latest AMD C32 platform, with support for 4/6-core AMD OpteronTM 4100 series processors. These have outstanding performance per-watt, with up to 22% less power consumption than previous OpteronTM 2400 series processors (information from www.amd.com). This technology is designed to offer a power-efficient and cost-effective two-way server architecture.

Over 85% Vcore Efficiency
High power efficiency means greener, more environmentally-friendly technology with lower operating costs, and ASUS R&D engineers have done their utmost to achieve this. As a result, the KCMA-D8 and KCMR-D12 server boards deliver over 85% Vcore power efficiency when the CPU is working in the 30% to 90% load range. With a maximum power efficiency of 88%, both server boards reduce power consumption and electric bills for users, leading to greater savings in the long term.

ASUS PIKE SAS2 6Gb/s Storage
Optional ASUS PIKE provides slim and flexible storage options, while SAS RAID upgrades can be achieved directly via a unique slot - without sacrificing expansion capability. Both KCMA-D8 and KCMR-D12 server boards support the latest SAS2 6Gb/s storage through the PIKE interface, doubling the transmission speed of SAS 3Gb/s. ASUS PIKE 2008 supports RAID 0, 1, 10 and 1E, while PIKE 2008/IMR supports RAID 0, 1, 10, 5 and 50. PIKE 2108 is a hardware RAID solution that supports high performance RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.

Built in Linux RAID 5
For better data protection, the KCMA-D8 and KCMR-D12 have built in Promise® ROMB (RAID on Motherboard) to support RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for both Windows and Linux. These complete, fast and efficient RAID configurations benefit enterprise customers by maximizing SATA storage system performance.

12” x 10” ATX Form Factor and 24+8-pin Power Connectors (KCMA-D8)
The KCMA-D8 follows standard ATX mounting schemes, making it ideal for any PC case, including rack and tower arrangements. The 24+8-pin power connector supports both SSI (server use) and ATX (desktop PC use) power supplies, the former for better performance, the latter for reduced costs.

Ideal Placement for Improved Airflow (KCMR-D12)
Front parallel CPU and memory design allows users to build 1U rack systems with reduced need for 40 x 56 fans. Designed in the 12” x 13” form factor, the KCMR-D12 allows users to choose a standard 1U rack chassis and power supply for lower costs.

Optional ASMB4-iKVM for Remote Management
The optional BIOS-level ASMB4-iKVM upgrade kit provides full real-time remote access to the system with KVM from any Ethernet-attached computer.
