-AMD's Personal Connectivity Solutions Group takes customer service and technical support to new level with industry-leading global distributors-

AUSTIN, TX-DECEMBER 19, 2002-AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the worldwide availability of the AMD Alchemy(tm) Solutions line of system-on-a-chip (SOC) processors and development board kits through its long-standing distributors Arrow Electronics, Inc., Avnet, Inc., and Future Electronics. The AMD Alchemy Solutions products are created within AMD's Personal Connectivity Solutions Group (PCS).

"The fact that these industry-leading distributors will be adding our SOC processors and development board kits to their portfolio is significant," said Phil Pompa, AMD vice president of marketing for PCS. "It means that our customers will have the outstanding technical support and design resources that our distributors offer to support our products. This can shorten the customer's time to market and reduce development costs."

"It also means our distributors can offer our customers exceptional AMD Alchemy Solutions products for a very exciting and rapidly evolving market - the non-PC Internet appliance and access infrastructure market," Pompa continued.

Arrow Electronics, Inc., Avnet, Inc., and Future Electronics are expected to begin generating interest for the AMD Alchemy Solutions Au1000(tm), AMD Alchemy Solutions Au1100(tm) and the AMD Alchemy Solutions Au1500(tm) processors, which are planned to be widely available for distribution early in the first quarter of next year. Field Application Engineers from these three distributors have undergone rigorous training to prepare them for supporting the PCS products.

"The PCS product line provides another example of how AMD creates leading edge technology with a focus on the customer," said John Curran, Vice President of Marketing, Semiconductor Supplier Services Group of Arrow Electronics, Inc. "The versatility, performance and energy efficiency of the AMD Alchemy Solutions processors provide customers flexibility and ease in design, and we're excited to be able to represent this line."

"Sharing a focus on the customer has been the basis for our long-standing relationship with AMD," said Jim Schaeffer, Sr. Vice President, Avnet Design Services. "By providing support for the PCS product line, we offer the customer a very real competitive advantage - our expertise and responsive service in the area of product design, and the full portfolio of AMD's leading edge technology."

"We've built our business through representing industry-leading manufacturers such as AMD, and by supporting many of the industry's highest technology products," said Lee Melatti, Vice President of Technical Solutions at Future Electronics. "Adding AMD's PCS product line allows us to provide our customers the best available combination of performance and energy efficiency in processors for the non-PC Internet appliance market. With our long-standing relationship with AMD and its products, we know our customers will be pleased."

The AMD Alchemy Solutions product line targets computing devices, access devices, driver information systems and entertainment devices. "AMD's global success has been built on strong partnerships with industry leaders," said Pompa. "Arrow Electronics, Inc., Avnet, Inc., and Future Electronics are known worldwide as among the best in their field, and we're proud to continue our relationship with them. With the technical support they provide we are able to meet our customer's demands for cost-efficient assistance in developing products around the AMD Alchemy Solutions family of processors."
