Releases P4B266 DDR Pentium 4 Motherboard with Intel 845 Chipset

release of the P4B266 motherboard for Socket 478 Pentium 4 processors with DDR
memory support. The ASUS P4B266 leverages Intel’s 845D chipset technology to
deliver exceptional performance while incorporating innovative features and
value.
The
ASUS P4B266 and the Intel 845D chipset unlock the value of Pentium 4 technology
with high-bandwidth DDR SDRAM. Supporting up to 2GB of PC2100/PC1600 and a peak
bandwidth of 2.1GB/s, the P4B266 enables enhanced performance in multimedia
applications, video, audio, 3D games and more. With the DDR memory specification
rapidly being adopted in to the mainstream, the P4B266 provides a reliable,
high-performance solution for Pentium 4 systems.
The
ASUS P4B266 also features optional USB 2.0 support. USB 2.0 is the latest
connectivity specification for peripheral devices and features transfer speeds
of up to 480 Mb/s. Approximately forty times faster than conventional USB 1.1,
USB 2.0 is backwards-compatible supporting all the USB devices of today and
tomorrow. The latest USB 2.0 products compatible with the ASUS P4B266 include
high-speed external hard drives, optical drives, video and audio equipment and
more.
The
P4B266 includes many innovative features especially designed for user
friendliness. A
unique onboard speech IC chip and ASUS POST Reporter™ provide clear
explanations of system errors for quick and easy optimization, while ASUS
MyLogo™ personalizes and adds style to your system with customizable boot
logos. Also included is an ASUS EZ Plug™ power connector that eliminates the
need to buy a special ATX 12V
power supply
to support your P4 CPU, as well as advanced media support for smartcards, SD,
and Memory Stick. For audiophiles, an SPDIF-out interface enables convenient
connection to 5.1 speaker systems for theater-like audio experiences (audio
models only) while performance enthusiasts will enjoy the P4B266’s extreme
overclocking features such as an adjustable AGP bus.
The
P4B266 is ultra-expandable with 6 standard PCI interfaces and connections for
two USB 1.1 ports and up to four USB 2.0 ports. A CNR interface supports
software modem or audio technologies via a modem/audio riser card, while an
AGP4X slot supports today’s most advanced graphics cards. Optional features
include onboard high-quality 6-channel audio and Intel 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN
controller.
