Ever needed to conduct a video conference from your laptop but forgot to pack your webcam? Or wanted to take some pictures urgently but misplaced your camera.
Noted throughout the world for delivering innovative products, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) is set to solve many business travellers image capture problems with the ECS G220, the first-ever notebook with a built-in 1.3-mega pixel camera.
‘Unlike VGA cameras sported by rival laptops, the 1.3 mega pixel camera can take high resolution images ideal for a number of applications,’ says Andrew Tseng, Marketing and Business Project Manager, ECS UK.
‘So whether you need a quality image of a product for your business or simply want to take a snap to show the folks at home what you have been up to the ECS G220’s easy to use CMOS camera is ideal.’
As the camera doubles as a webcam users can also take part in video conferences with the camera delivering clear, high quality video images.
There is however much more to the ECS G220 than its innovative imaging facilities. Slim, sleek and ultra light (it weighs less than 2kg) the G220 is designed for fashion-conscious consumers who demand a compact and lightweight yet highly specified notebook.
Another innovation is its two spindle design – most lightweight laptops only have one spindle – this means G220 can accommodate an optional optical drive alongside its hard disk drive.
Easy connectivity is at the heart of the G220 courtesy of its Intel PRO Wireless 2100/2200GB network connection and 802.11b/g facilities. For the times when a wireless system is unavailable the G220 features 10/100 Base-T LAN and a MDC Fax/Modem V.90/V.92
The G220 also features a 4-in-1 card reader (SD, SD/IO, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro), a VGA–out port, PCMCIA slot, 1394A port and three ultra-fast USB 2.0 slots.
Buyers can also customise the G220 to suit their requirements. It can be powered by a choice of Intel® Pentium® M (Dothan) 2MB L2 cache, FSB400MHz, 1.5GHz~ 2.13GHz or Intel® Pentium® M (Banias) 1MB L2 cache, FSB400MHz, 1.3GHz~1.7GHz, processors, and is available with a choice of a 12.1-inch WXGA glare type TFT LCD or 12.1-inch XGA TFT LCD monitors.
With this consumer TV specification screen, the G220 wide screen delivers a 1280 x 800 resolution with 16:10 aspect ratio; the normal screen format that provides 1024 x 768 resolution at 4:3 aspect ratio.
The G220 accommodates up to 1GB system memory and features an integrated graphic controller with Intel 855GME internal graphics. It supports Intel DVMT (Dynamic Video Memory Technology) with AGP 8X compatibility.
‘True innovation in the laptop market is rare at the moment,’ adds Andrew Tseng, Marketing and Business Project Manager, ECS UK. ‘With the ECS G220 we are offering a superb product with a unique application.’
