"NeOSS is designed to support complete interoperability with existing networks and business management systems through open architecture-based standardization and integration," said Woo-Sung Kim, assistant vice president, Operations Support System Lab at KT. "Intel’s Itanium 2 processor-based servers from HP have demonstrated outstanding performance, scalability, reliability and price-performance based on initial tests and trials. We are confident that with Intel based servers running NeOSS, we will deliver even higher quality service to our customers."
KT’s IA-based next-generation operations support system will be powered by Itanium 2 processor-based HP Integrity Superdome servers for database management and Intel Xeon processor MP- based HP ProLiant servers for the company’s wireless Internet and multimedia streaming services.
KT plans to deploy NeOSS in the Chungchung Province by year’s end, and will extend to cover all of South Korea in the second half of 2005.
"Reliable and quality telecommunications service relies on effectively managing large and complex databases," said MC Kim, country manager of Intel Korea. "For a leading telecommunications service provider like KT it’s critical that IT infrastructure supporting customer support and service applications operates efficiently and cost effectively. Itanium 2 technology delivers this required level of performance and ensures that such companies as KT continue to meet or exceed the expectations of their customers."
