AMD APPOINTS SYLVIA SUMMERS VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF EMBEDDED BUSINESS UNIT

SUNNYVALE, CA-June 9, 2003- AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced it has appointed Sylvia Summers vice president and general manager of the Embedded Business Unit of AMD's Memory Group. The appointment of Summers reinforces AMD's focus on customers' needs for Flash memory devices in embedded products such as automotive under-hood and dashboard electronics navigation, networking and telecommunication, consumer electronics including Set Top Boxes, PCs and peripherals.

"Sylvia brings more than 20 years of experience in technical leadership and management to lead AMD's Embedded Business Unit in its aggressive plan to gain market share," said Dr. Bertrand Cambou, senior vice president, Memory Group, AMD. "Her extensive background in the semiconductor, storage and networking markets will drive the Memory Group's focus and commitment to delivering Flash memory solutions to our embedded systems customers."

Before joining AMD, Summers served as group vice president for the Public Access Management Network Services Group at Cisco Systems. Prior to Cisco Systems, Summers was vice president and general manager of the Multiplatform Group at Storage Technology Corporation. Summers has also held senior-level management positions in systems businesses at Bull, Thomson CSF, and Matra.

Summers holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Ecole Polytecnique Feminine in France, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in business administration from Thomson CSF in France.

In conjunction with this appointment, AMD named Amir Mashkoori vice president and general manager of the Wireless Business Unit of AMD's Memory Group. Previously Mashkoori served as vice president and general manager of AMD's Embedded Business Unit.
