OFFICER OF AMD
SUNNYVALE, CA - April 25, 2002 - AMD announced today
that Hector de J. Ruiz has been elected chief executive officer. The action came
at a board of directors meeting in New York following the annual shareholder
meeting. W.J. Sanders III was elected chairman.
Ruiz, 56, has been president and chief operating officer
of AMD since January 2000. Sanders, 65, is a co-founder of AMD and has served as
chief executive officer of the company since its founding on May 1, 1969.
