MOBILE AMD ATHLON(tm) XP PROCESSORS DELIVER HIGH
PERFORMANCE AND MORE CHOICE IN COMPAQ BUSINESS NOTEBOOK FROM HP Powerful, mobile
AMD Athlon(tm) XP processors make Compaq Evo N1015v notebook from HP the right
choice for business users on the go

SUNNYVALE, CALIF-OCTOBER 7, 2002-AMD (NYSE: AMD) today
announced that its high-performance mobile AMD Athlon(tm) XP processors will
power the new Compaq Evo Notebook N1015v from HP, created specifically to meet
the demanding mobility and productivity needs of business, government and
education users. "Our customers are telling us that they need both stand-out
performance and true mobility to get their work done quickly and efficiently,"
said David Somo, vice president of Worldwide Strategic Accounts for AMD. "To
meet those needs, AMD has partnered with HP to deliver the Compaq Evo Notebook
N1015v, which combines superior performance and robust features to help
businesses run efficiently, no matter where employees are working. AMD is
committed to delivering exceptional mobile PC technology to help business users
stay connected and work from anywhere-at home, the office or while traveling."

While business users need performance and mobility, IT
managers are asking for ways to do more with fewer resources. AMD designs its
mobile processors to meet the needs of both the user and the IT manager. Mobile
AMD Athlon XP processors feature AMD PowerNow!(tm) technology, an advanced power
management technology that can help extend the battery life of a notebook
computer, enabling anytime, anywhere productivity. IT managers can stretch their
shrinking budget dollars with AMD's Socket A processor interface which lets
businesses take advantage of a single PC platform, reducing the need for costly
platform changes.

When combined with the additional robust system features
provided by Microsoft and ATI, the Compaq Evo N1015v from HP offers outstanding
performance and computing power for users on the go.

"In building Windows(r) XP, Microsoft wanted to give
users incredible graphics and a better Internet experience," said Rogers Weed,
vice president of the Windows group at Microsoft Corp. "Windows XP includes
integrated support for AMD PowerNow! technology. By working together AMD and
Microsoft are enhancing the computing experience and giving IT managers the
compatibility and reliability they demand. Optimizing applications for
3DNow!(tm) Professional results in smoother, richer graphics and audio and a
phenomenal Internet experience." "ATI's Radeon IGP 320M delivers smooth,
reliable and fast graphics and DVD video for the first time in a cost-effective,
integrated-graphics notebook, so users of value-priced commercial notebooks will
get the same quality graphics as the industry-leading MOBILITY RADEON family of
discrete graphics chips," said Phil Eisler, vice president and general manager,
Mobile and Integrated Business Unit, ATI Technologies Inc. "Radeon IGP 320M also
uses a common graphics driver, so IT managers save time by only having to
maintain one driver image."
