INTEL ANNOUNCES WORLD'S FASTEST AND
LOWEST-POWER MOBILE PC PROCESSORS

12 New Mobile Processors Covering Every Mobile PC Segment

October 1, 2001 -- Intel Corporation today introduced the world's fastest

mobile PC microprocessor and the world's lowest-power-consuming PC

processor, both based on Intel's advanced 0.13-micron manufacturing process

technology. These processors offer new levels of performance and low power

consumption into even the smallest category of mobile and tablet PCs. In

all, Intel added 12 new mobile processors to its line up with products that

span all mobile computing market segments.

The mobile Intel Pentium® III processor-M at 1.2 GHz provides the

highest performance for both full-size and thin-and-light mobile PCs.
The

new ultra-low-voltage mobile Intel Pentium III processor-M at 700 MHz

operates at 0.95 volt while consuming less than half a watt of average

power.**

"The mobile Pentium III processor-M family combines the best in high

performance, low power mobile processor design with the worlds most advanced

manufacturing technology," said Frank Spindler, vice president and general

manager of Intel's Mobile Platforms Group. "This introduction extends the

benefits of the mobile Pentium III processor-M to the smallest mobile PCs.

Small, sleek, fast, with great battery life - our best mobile technology now

comes in every size system."

High Performance and Low Power For Ultra-Portables

With today's announcement, the Intel low-power processor family transitions

to the 0.13-micron process technology and adds new architectural

enhancements for higher performance and lower power consumption.

The new Ultra-Low and Low Voltage mobile Pentium III processors-M on

0.13-micron process technology feature several architectural advancements

including: 512KB L2 cache, Data Prefetcher and a processor system bus up

to133-MHz.

Additionally, all mobile Pentium III processors-M support Enhanced Intel

SpeedStep(tm) technology that can automatically switch between Maximum

Performance Mode and Battery Optimized Mode, providing the best balance of

performance and low power consumption. The Deeper Sleep mode provides a

power reduction from previous low power sleep states to help extend battery

life * reaching power levels as low as two tenths of a watt or less.  With

the addition of the new architectural and power technologies, the ultra-low

voltage mobile Pentium III processor-M operates at 0.95 volts and provides

up to 64% ** performance gain over the previous generation.  These products

are optimized for mini and sub notebooks as well tablet PCs.

Mobile Intel® 830 Chipset

Intel also introduced two new versions of its Intel 830 mobile chipset

family designed to address the needs of a variety of mobile market segments.

The Intel 830M provides performance-oriented integrated graphics for robust

2D, 3D, and video display on mainstream notebook PCs and the

Intel 830MG provides value-oriented integrated graphics capability for

lower-cost platforms. The integration also enables space and power savings,

critical to small mobile PCs. Additionally, both chipsets support up to 1GB

high-performance PC-133 SDRAM memory.  When compared to the previous Intel

815EM chipset with integrated graphics, the new Intel 830M provides up to a

113%** performance gain.  In 1,000- unit quantities, the Intel 830M chipset

is $49.50 and the Intel 830MG chipset is $35.00.
