Ships First Socket 370 Motherboard With Dual-Memory Support

- ASUSTeK Computer Inc. today announced the release of the ASUS TUA266
motherboard, for Intel Pentium III Tualatin, Coppermine and
Celeron processors. The TUA266 is the first Socket 370 motherboard to
support high-performance DDR SDRAM as well as conventional PC100/PC133 SDRAM.
Combining the strengths of Intel processors with the advanced features of the
ALi Apollo Pro 5 chipset (M1651T and M1535D+), the ASUS TUA266 motherboard
delivers an ideal platform for performance and flexibility.
With
support of up to 2GB of high-speed DDR PC2100/PC1600 SDRAM at a peak bandwidth
of 2.1 GB/s, the ASUS TUA266 utilizes an ultra-fast 266MHz memory bus to provide
the necessary bandwidth and performance to power through today’s most
demanding internet and 3D graphics applications. It also supports 3GB of
PC100/133 SDRAM to provide a cost effective transitional solution while DDR
moves into the mainstream.
The
ASUS TUA266 supports Intel Pentium III Tualatin, Coppermine and Celeron
processors up to 1.2GHz and beyond. Enhanced performance is provided with a
wealth of overclocking features. DIP switches and ASUS JumperFree™ mode allow
users to adjust overclocking settings either manually or from the convenience of
the BIOS screen. 1MHz incremental settings accurately push system-bus settings
over 200MHz, while CPU voltage adjustments in 0.05V intervals provide additional
performance options.
The TUA266 also features
onboard quality sound. Experience superior 4-channel 3D surround audio with the
optional C-Media CMI8738SX audio controller. This impressive chip eliminates the
cost of an additional soundcard and adds dynamic realism to your favorite games,
MP3s or DVDs.
With
five standard PCI interfaces and connections for up to six USB ports, the TUA266
is ultra-expandable. An AMR interface supports software modem or audio
technologies via a modem/audio riser card, while an AGP Pro slot supports AGP4X
and professional VGA cards for advanced workstations.
