Samsung has recently posted, via its official Twitter account, a teaser image for its Unpacked 5 event. The event will be held on the 24th February in Barcelona where we expect the tech giant will announce its newest flagship - the Galaxy S5.

The invite hints that the Galaxy S5 will sport a noticeably different new interface, with icons grouped by colours including; Style and Fitness in green, Speed, Curiosity and Privacy in blue, and other icons including Fun, Social and Life. All the icons are also appear to with a superscript power of five5 denomination and match the style of the recently leaked Touchwiz UI photos in terms of font, style and colours.

With the way the icons are designed on the invitation, we can safely say that whilst we are unsure if they are indeed apps which will appear on the phone (they could be app categories or folders perhaps), it does indicate a redesign of Samsung's UI software.

The Galaxy S5 is expected to sport a 5.25 inch QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 6 octa-core/ quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32/64GB storage, 16MP rear camera, 3.2MP front-facing camera, a large 3,200mAh battery plus Android KitKat with a refined user interface. The device will also follow the example of the Galaxy S4 and arrive with both Mini and Zoom versions in tow. Rumours of a premium metal version and a cheaper plastic model are also doing the rounds.

Hopefully Samsung will reveal some real 'to-the-power-of-five' innovations to inject some excitement into the smartphone market.

The new layout looks interesting, I wonder how it handles legacy Android stuff, I assume there will still be a apps screen.

Got to wonder about the price of the decent version (the one with the 64GB of storage). And I totally misread/misunderstood that last sentence - I read it as “Galaxy S5 launch, plus an S5C and an S5S later”, which did leave me kind of wondering what the launch S5 was made of if it wasn't plastic nor metal - carbon fibre?

Not too happy with that massive screen either - only a hairs breadth smaller than the original Galaxy Note. “Fondleslab” is an apt description.

Oh, and hope that it's a removable battery - deal breaker for me since I'm on the second battery for my S3.

Yep, a brown circle labelled “Legacy ****”. :p
This is supposed to be a render of the Galaxy S5
I thought Google had a word in Samsung's ear for straying off message with Andriod and now it looks like they are moving further away?
I'm not 100% sold on the new interface. Need to try it first to get a feel for it.
