Taiwanese mobile maker HTC has announced that the HTC One Dual SIM will be made available to UK customers. This version of the HTC One of course features Dual-SIM slots but also packs a microSD card slot behind its removable back plate. The HTC One Dual SIM is available to pre-order now for £494.99 on HTC UK’s online store.
The HTC One was very warmly welcomed when it was first unveiled in February but suffered from supply shortages until late spring. It is still HTC’s flagship smartphone and since the core product’s launch it has been joined by an HTC One Mini, an HTC One Max and a proliferation of colour finishes, some exclusive to certain carriers.
The mix and quality of components and finish of the HTC One was very appealing to HEXUS readers and has also led to the phone becoming “the UK's most awarded smartphone”. However smartphone fans often wish for more and at the top of the list of features that would enhance the smartphone was microSD expansion. Now the UK looks set to get an HTC One featuring not just the expandable storage but also Dual-SIM capability. The rest of the specs are the same as the HTC One already available, you can find a full spec list here.
However there are some things still missing from the features wish-list of Android smartphone enthusiasts such as LTE support, for at least one of the SIMs, and a user replaceable battery.
Peter Frolund, GM for HTC UK told the Inquirer that “HTC is changing the premium mobile market, this is the first time we have released a dual SIM version of one of our premium handsets in the UK.” He added that he thought the Dual-SIM capability brought business and pleasure together. The Inq also noted that other UK retailers and mobile operators will get stock of the HTC One Dual SIM but availability dates are still unconfirmed.
