With the Mobile World Congress yet to begin, we wonder if Samsung will have any surprises left for the trade show. We already know that the Samsung Galaxy S III won't be showing itself at MWC and now Samsung has announced two new phones in its line-up, the Galaxy Ace 2 and the Galaxy Mini 2.
Both phones sport a fairly compact form factor and will be aimed at the entry-level market. As naming suggests, the larger of the two devices is the Galaxy Ace 2, which features a 3.8 inch 480 x 800 PLS TFT display, supported by an 800MHz dual-core processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a MicroSD slot, a 5 megapixel rear camera with 720p video recording and a front-facing VGA camera. The device will also feature high-speed HSPDA 14.4Mbps internet and a large 1,500mAh battery.
The Ace 2's little brother, the Mini 2, will feature a smaller 3.27 inch 320 x 480 TFT display, a single-core 800MHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a MicroSD slot and a single rear 3MP camera with VGA recording. Likewise, the device will sport a smaller battery at 1,300mAh and standard 7.2Mbps internet. Despite appearing under the guise of a seemingly innocent phone from the front, the Mini 2 does well to hide a rather colourful backside.
The Galaxy Ace 2 looks to be an excellent choice for those who are looking for a smartphone experience at budget prices, with the Mini 2 a fairly decent offering for such a compact device. Prices are yet to be confirmed, though we do know that both devices will be gracing our shores sometime in April. Both devices will feature Android 2.3 at launch.
