No sooner had a promised update to Android 3.2 been released, did Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi users discover that they had just downloaded a wolf in sheep's clothing.

The update issued by Samsung was meant to deliver a long awaited Android 3.2 update to the device, instead it has crippled WiFi access, auto-rotate has ceased functioning and users are unable to connect with Kies desktop synch, which would have been the typical approach to applying a manual update fix; instead, a rather annoying "Firmware update failed. Please try installing using Kies (PC)..." message appears each time the device is rebooted. This is all a pretty big blow, especially considering that the tablet only has WiFi for accessing the internet.

Crippling Galaxy Tab WiFi Android 3.2 update

Samsung has stated that it is aware of the issues and whilst working on a fix has pulled the update in the meantime. Some users have had limited success regaining their WiFi by applying a static IP address instead of the use of DHCP. If you've been affected by this update, please let us know!

Perhaps when Samsung makes the fixed update live once more, users may wish a little and see what other users are saying before taking the plunge.

Galaxy Tab owners have my sympathy, but does anyone know if all these faults are limited to Samsung's update? Reason I ask is that my Asus tablet got a firmware update this week and now it seems a lot more reluctant to switch orientation (especially in the Browser app).
How did Samsung fail so hard?

auto-rotate has creased functioning

Is it folding the screen? :p

Glad I haven't updated dad's tab yet then.
At least the Samsung update did *something* - despite LG announcing an official gingerbread update for the O2X two weeks ago, whenever I try to update my phone it claims that I have the latest version.

Perhaps it's just trying to save me from a borked update…? ;)
Its funny that everyone seems to have forgotten that Samsung don't have much luck with software. Even though they have the popular phones of the galaxy s and 2 , their software is still glitchy and Samsung does struggle to fix problems and issue updates.
