Play Party Games with a friend
One of the new additions to the Wii version is a number of party games that can be played solo or with a friend. Rather annoyingly these aren't playable when you boot up the game, but need to be unlocked by collecting bonus items in the single player game. In my opinion, playing Wii with friends is what the console was made for, and although single player was mentally challenging, I've had far more fun playing the multiplayer games. There are 5 party games in total: Rodeo, which involves trying to keep your blob on a small tray for the longest time, whilst a moving fan does its best to blow you over the edge; Paint, in which your blob leaves a trail of paint and the aim is to cover as much of the area as possible before your opponent does; my personal favorite, Shove, which is exactly like playing 'Shove Ha’penny' (if you’re old enough to remember that) and finally Metrix, which is a puzzle based timed challenge.
Mercury Meltdown Remix is extremely addictive and the reward for finishing each level (aside from points) is the satisfaction you feel in beating some of the trickier puzzles. Beating the clock is extremely difficult, especially if you want to pick up all of the bonuses on each level and I was constantly returning back to a maze, time and time again to try and achieve this goal. There's plenty of replay value in Mercury Meltdown Remix with over 150 levels, but it's the party games that will keep me coming back for more.
If puzzle games are your bag and you're up for a decent challenge, then Mercury Meltdown Revolution hits the nail right on the head.
