The first football game on Wii is set to be Konami's Pro Evolution soccer according to the producer Shingo Takatsuka. Apparently the game has already been tested on the new console but the developers are trying to work out more innovative ways of using the Wii controllers.

It will be a difficult challenge to map the intricate movements of footballers to the Wii-mote and Nunchuck controllers, but ideas currently include swiftly moving both controllers upwards to avoid tackles and putting it over your head and swinging it forward for throw-ins. How they're going to make it work effectively for shots and passing we have no idea, but can't wait to find out.

The Wii is definately not going to be a console for the unfit, we're knackered even thinking about it.

Could be great, could be horribly irritating.

I love Pro Evo but the control system is a bitch, even on refined (if you know what i mean) controler like the Dual Shock 2. How they are going to get this working on the Wii so it fun but also includes all the many many different moves (many of which most people never use mind) is beyond me. I suspect they will have to dumb down the controls some what.

Still, nice to see a ‘proper’ game coming to the Wii :P Looking forward to giving it a go.
I think Pro Evo will adopt a more normal attitude with the controller, ie using the D-Pad or Analog Nunchuck, otherwise it will be a bit of a mess.

Could be a laugh if they challenges using the motion bits, penalty shootouts and crazy kick arounds.
i thought pro evo was a ‘next gen exculive’ for the 360??

Very good point! This ‘exclusive’ label is becoming extrememly blurred. Everything claims to be exclusive these days.
