This concept sounds rather familiar. Konami has announced a new rhythm game that will give players the chance to play drums, bass and lead guitar.

The company reckons that this game will re-define the genre and the drum periperhal will be the best one on the market.

Rock Revolution is in development for Xbox 360 and PS3 and will feature an extensive music selection, along with a wide variety of downloadable songs and will also have a multi-player mode.
"Rock Revolution will be the most innovative and realistic rock game to hit the market, that will provide a quality drum peripheral and music that players will appreciate," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "As the originator of music-based games, we are dedicated to bringing fans a truly preeminent music experience. With Rock Revolution, we put the emphasis on the drum kit, delivering an experience unlike any other."

There will also be a Wii version, where you'll use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk for an air-drum and air-guitar experience (no peripherals then).

Rock Revolution is scheduled to launch this autumn, in the US first. If it's anything like the Rock Band release we probably won't see it in the UK until next year.
