Videogames news site, Gamepro are claiming that an inside source has leaked information that 2K's innovative first person shooter, Bioshock will be heading to the PS3 next year. The rumour has been floating around for a number of months claiming that Bioshock was only ever a timed Xbox 360 exclusive and would inevitably end up on Sony's console. Earlier this month Bioshock developers, Irrational apparently spoke freely to website PSU.com who said that 'there was positive discussion almost to the point of confirmation that this title would hit for the PlayStation 3 next spring.'2K Games are yet to comment on the speculation, but we'd guess their answer will be along the lines of 'no comment'.
Earlier this week, 2K Games also released the original score to BioShock as a free download on The Cult of Rapture website. The score was created by film, television and video game composer Garry Schyman and features a combination of early twentieth century writing, aleatoric elements, musique concrete, traditional tonal and late romantic styles that capture the distinct retro-futuristic aesthetic of the game. 2k's director and BioShock's lead designer Ken Levine has confirmed in an interview that there is no plan for a PS3 port of BioShock... because 2K has an exclusivity deal with Microsoft. http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/24/levine-confirms-no-ps3-bioshock-and-does-mea-culpa-on-pc-issues/ Then there is the lingering question of the rumored PS3 version of BioShock found in the PC code. Levine responds quite clearly, "I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding. There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft ... that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery."
