Ubisoft has published the official PC minimum and recommended specifications for PC gamers wishing to enjoy playing Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. While in general the specs are as you might expect, for a modern graphically detailed game, a slightly raised eyebrow resulted from the comment which read "For a recommended experience, the game requires a video card with at least 3GB of VRAM when playing at a full HD resolution."

I've tabulated the official minimum and recommended PC specs below

MINIMUM

RECOMMENDED

Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10(64bit versions)

Intel Core i5 2400s @ 2.5 GHz or AMD FX 6350 @ 3.9 GHz

6GB or more RAM for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon R9 270 (2GB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0)

DirectX June 2010 Redistributable

DirectX compatible sound card with latest drivers

Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64bit versions only)

Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz

8GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (4GB) or the newer GTX 970 (4GB) or AMD Radeon R9 280X (3GB) or better

DirectX June 2010 Redistributable

DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card with latest drivers

50 GB available space

As a footnote to the recommended specs Ubisoft added the following blurb regarding available VRAM:

"Technical note from the developer: For a recommended experience, the game requires a video card with at least 3GB of VRAM when playing at a full HD resolution. While we encourage you to fiddle with the advanced options to fully customize your gaming experience, please keep an eye out for the VRAM meter usage when you adjust these settings."

In addition to the above there are a number of Nvidia promoted enhancements which include G-GYNC support, GeForce Experience profiles, TXAA (Nvidia exclusive tech), the HBAO+ ambient occlusion algorithm and PCSS soft shadows. If you have a high-end system you will, in addition, be able to enjoy Assassin's Creed: Syndicate with MSAA, AMD Eyefinity / NVIDIA Surround monitor 3:1 configurations, and performance scaling with AMD CrossFire / NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU setups.

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate will be released for Windows PCs on 19th November.

In related news Ubisoft recently published its H1 2015 financials. Unhappily it recorded a 57.2 per cent dip in revenues resulting in a net loss of $100.5 million. The firm traditionally makes most of its money in H2, which includes the run up to Xmas.

Phew, Good thing my GTX 970 has 3.5GB
Any idea when these new games will start using DirectX 12? considering everyone i know now has Windows 10 why not?
Following the reviews I'll be picking up Syndicate after skipping Unity - the first game in the series I haven't actually purchased.

Whilst I'm too cynical to think Ubi's profit slump is anything to do with the Unity farce, I think they absolutely deserved that profit hit and hope that it's a lesson to them in some way.

I'm not using Windows 10, but then again, you don't know me. And apparently, that's what counts. ;)

Because it requires more development time.

Expect projects starting around now to consider it.
