HEXUS.gaming have the new DX10 Age of Conan trailer that has made its debut at CES. Check out the full trailer at HEXUS.tv

“Microsoft’s new DirectX 10 technology represents a great leap forward for graphics, performance and even the development process of a PC game. Being one of the two first companies in the world to demonstrate this live is not only a testament to the technological skills of Funcom, but also to our continued commitment to the evolution of the PC as a gaming platform,” said Trond Arne Aas, CEO of Funcom. “Now we can create even more beautiful online worlds, and it’s great to see us spearhead this development.”

The groundbreaking new DirectX 10 technology brings a wide range of improvements for PC games, and it has several highly positive implications on the performance and looks of ‘Age of Conan’. Amongst other things it gives Funcom a chance to increase the overall performance, as well as enabling better view distance, more realistic-looking characters, more special effects, better and more detailed environments as well as better light models. Simply put, DirectX 10 delivers an incredible advancement in the evolution of computer gaming graphics.

The PC version of ‘Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures’ is a key title among the Games for Windows lineup for Windows Vista. The game won ‘Best MMO of E3’ awards from IGN, GameSpot, GameSpy and Yahoo. More information, newsletter sign-up, forums and a welcoming community portal can be found on the official website www.ageofconan.com . ‘Age of Conan’ is co-published by Eidos. The game will also be released on the Xbox 360.

I will crush my enemies, drive them before me and sip cocktails as I listen to the lamentation of their women…. :D
Is that really a “great advance”? Looks a bit like Oblivion but with worse vegetation and character animation. Distant detail looks better, if anything does, but if I were Microsoft I wouldn't be sending out videos like this as a demonstration of how fantastic DX10 graphics are. Where's the wow?
It's an MMO, they have never been known to spend a lot of time on intricacies… merely for the fact that it would take far too long to make a planet big enough. DX10 is amazing and we won't see a good representation of it until at least the end of the year with teh 2nd gen DX10 games.

Apparently, people who saw the video weren't that impressed, but there's still a lot to do with that particular game. Perhaps they should have waited until they had a better demonstration. It was Eidos not M/S who sent the video out.

They weren't allowing any hands on time with Conan at CES either.
Doesn't really excite me about DX10 at all. There's going to be plenty of bugs in it anyway (that's is, dx10) when it's first released.

Will be sticking with my x1950 till '08 at least, probably upgrade around september.
