Review aggregation site, Metacritic, awards the game with a decent 75 per cent based on 13 reviews, but sights would have been set much higher for the highly anticipated big comeback of the franchise.
Nevertheless, EA dismissed the notion that it was disappointed in the review scores, telling The Los Angeles Times that “this is a marathon not a sprint.”
Reading between the lines of the next comment, it appears that EA has set its sights on the long term success of the Medal Of Honor series, and aren't too concerned about the critical response for the new game, acknowledging that is only in its "first year of rebooting the franchise."
"The game had the highest pre-orders in the 11-year history of the Medal of Honor franchise. This is an essentially big achievement considering Medal of Honor has been dormant for several years. This is the first year in rebooting the franchise. Medal of Honor is part of a larger EA strategy to take share in the shooter category,” reads the statement.
EA will be eager to catch up with the success of Activision and the Call of Duty series, but with the launch of the new Call Of Duty game just around the corner, and taking into account the less than brilliant scores for Medal of Honor, EA's shooter could well be overlooked.
