CS: Source update in beta

Valve has announced that an “extensive update” to the billion-year old Counter Strike: Source is now in beta testing.

This update is being co-developed with Hidden Path Studios. The update is set to have a “limited time” in beta then it’ll be almost instantly released to all CS:S owners for free via the Steam update feature. Something to look forward to soon hopefully!

 

 

Update Additions List

·         New lifetime player stats and summary screens

·         New match player stats and summary screens

·         New cinematic death camera

·         New domination and revenge system

·         Added avatar icons to voice chat, scoreboard, and end of round display

·         Incorporated many source engine updates

·         New end of round display with MVP and interesting fact about a player

·         Updated scoreboard with new icons, visual style, MVP stars, and avatar pictures

 

 

Is this game just too old to compete with the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield? Do you prefer a bit of retro gaming? Let us know your opinion in the forums.

Is this game just too old to compete with the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield? Do you prefer a bit of retro gaming?

CS:S isn't retro! It is still one of the best games out, and one that I keep going back to. The design of the game is just so simple, yet there are so many different ways each round can play out.

I just hope that in this new beta that they haven't added too many gimmicks

I like it just because it's so nostalgic, one of the first games I ever played on my first computer back in 2002..

Yeah, hopefully core gameplay remains the same and all the gimmicky stuff doesn't start clogging it up with waiting times and stuff.. That'd annoy the life out of me!

Are you kidding? Counterstrike is so retro, that even WWII vets first played it at their grandfathers house.

CS:S is one of the 2 games I play, the other being IL2..

Its a great game, the server I play on is full of fun types and thats exactly what a game should be..

It's still got a huge userbase. Far from dead tbh.
