Infiity Ward has dropped a hint that mod tools for Modern Warfare 2 could be made avaialble to the PC community shortly.

The developer's Twitter feed reads:

"Nothing on Dedicated Servers, but there may be some Mod Tools news coming in the future, I'll pass it along once I have it."

Possibly referring to the complaints of instablity of PC multiplayer games, a subsequent Twitter post reveals that Infinity Ward is:

"preparing an in depth #MW2 Status Report for players to stay aware of what we're addressing and how it's progressing".

More news as we get it.

hopefully some decent fixes for this game then :).

there's only about 70 or 80k players online at peak times now. it's barely anything :(
we need some kind of incentive for them to buy the game and play it
Sounds like too little far too late to me. As some one with every COD title this is the first I've skipped and I've decided it'll stay that way - I've got better games to play on my PC (and xbox!).

Fix dedicated servers
Reinstate lean
Stop ripping off pc gamers
Apologise for treating pc gamers wrongly
Make a single player expansion for FREE that is longer than 8 hours

I would CONSIDER buying it after that. 8 hours for a premium game is TOO SHORT

Don't think I could have put it better…
At the very least fix dedicated server support, and add modding, however i can't see them adding modding as that would prolong the life of the game, which is not what they want.
