The first Dungeon Siege title was released in April 2002, and its sequel, Dungeon Siege II was released in August 2005 with both titles selling in excess of 1.7 miliion copies.
The gameplay in both games was a mixture of pause-and-go tactical management and point-and-click action., but this third game will abandon group combat and instead concentrate on single-player action.
Gas Powered Games boss, Chris Taylor told Eurogamer Germany that "there will be some things that are very much like Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, but some things will be simplified. I am done with multi-character parties; I really think that it's all going to be about a single hero. It's too much to manage."
A movie based on the Dungeon Siege franchise was released earlier this year in the US. "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale", which was directed by the talent that is Mr.Uwe Boll, received shocking reviews and was awarded a grand total of just 5% on movie review site, Rotten Tomatoes.
A release date for Dungeon Siege 3 has yet to be announced.
UPDATED :: It now appears that Eurogamer mis-translated the interview with Chris Taylor. CVG have the news that Dungeon Siege 3 has not been confirmed
