Microsoft says that the "greatest games lineup in Xbox history" is about to land on your Xbox One. The New Xbox One Experience (NXOE) system update with Xbox One Backward Compatibility will begin to roll out from 12th November (Thursday). Today the Xbox Wire revealed the full lineup of 104 Xbox 360 games that will be playable when your Xbox One gets updated.

Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, wrote on the Xbox Wire that "Some of my favourites are included, like the complete Gears of War catalogue, Assassin's Creed II, Fallout 3, Borderlands, and Castle Crashers." It is promised that this first batch will be followed by plenty of others including all future Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles.

Notable games which aren't in the first batch, announced today, but are promised to be on the way in future Backwards Compatibility updates include; Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, and Skate 3. The next list of games joining the list of compatible titles will be announced in December.

Microsoft says it is implementing Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility as it believes "gaming is universal and should be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere". It hopes to create "the best, most seamless gaming experience possible". It is indeed good to see Microsoft trying so hard, perhaps mainly due to being in second place to Sony and its PS4 games console. The backwards compatibility works with both disc and digital games without any kind of extra payment being required.

For those still hanging on to previous generation consoles and with the holiday season just around the corner the latest improvements to the Xbox One could sway some buyer decisions. I have about 20 old Xbox 360 games stored in a box in the garage, left over from the RRODed Xbox 360 we had. If I didn't have a Roku streamer attached to the big TV I might be inclined to go for the Xbox One for its entertainment value, backwards compatibility and possibly even for new exclusive titles.

Yes!!! Backward compatibility finally here for Plants vs. Zombies… now I can justify spending the cash on a XBO! ;)

On a serious note, No Forza, PGR, GTA, or any football game (fifa or pro evo) of note is disappointing.

PGR I can understand but Forza, FIFA or PES? Buy the one of the two versions of each of them have have released natively on the XBO :P

I still do not understand the importance of BC personally….there is only ONE game in all the years I have owned consoles that I have ever used in BC mode and that was the original version of Worms for the PS1 (which I still used on the PS3).
That list doesn't exactly blow me away… Having never owned an Xbox360 I don't have a back catalogue, so I'd be looking at these as bargain bin games.
Only one lego game. Would like to see Batman 2 and Indiana.
No Red Dead Redemption? Bah…
